1st day of 1st grade

This past week has been a good one. We took our time and really enjoyed our last week of summer break.

We went to the water park with some friends on Monday, and lazed around the house the rest of the week.

On Saturday we went to a birthday party for Kaeden's soccer coach's kiddo! He was turning the big 5. We had a lot of fun attending his party and spending some time with friends there.

Brennan also turned 11 months old on Saturday. Don't even get me started on where the time has gone. Brennan is turning into an expert walker. I just want him to slow down!

Sunday we went to the pool and got all of our gear together for the big day!!

Today was Kaeden's first day of first grade. We walked to school with some friends and it was great. Kaeden was very indifferent and said he had a "mostly good" day. I'm okay with this. Can't believe my little boy is in grade school. He's so smart, I know he will be ready to take on the world soon!

Here are the questions I asked Kaeden this year:

Color: Blue

Food: Turkey sandwich with cheese that looks like a pokeball

TV Show:  Pokemon

Song: Doesn’t have a favorite song- sad!

Animal: Snakes

Sport: Soccer

What do you want to be when you grow up: An astronaut that can make ice cream

What age is old: 60

What toy do you want the most: Skylander giants starter pack

 Brennan's 11 month pictures:

So Sunday morning, I got up with Brennan. He usually gets up at around 5:30am and like every other morning I was in an exhausted stupor. I sat down with him in the living room and we were watching cartoons. I was eating cereal and he crawled into the kitchen. Usually, this isn't cause for concern as he's obsessed with my broom. I finish up my cereal, walk into the kitchen, and he is COVERED in red food coloring. After I realize it isn't blood, I yank off his cloth diaper (it was a hard to find one that I would probably never get my hands on again) and take him to the tub. My plans to let Chad sleep in were crushed as someone had to clean up the awesome mess the baby left in the kitchen. So this (below) was the aftermath. He's all clean now, now...thank you blue Dawn

T minus one week until school YAY!

What did I do this week? Probably nothing lets recap:

Yeah, not much. Kaeden had VBS for 2 hours during the day this week. He had some fun, but was kinda grumpy about it a couple days. He's in this "I'm 6 years old and I'm going to test you every day for the next 12 years." YAY.

We swam a couple times this week seeing as it was well in the triple digits.

Took some pictures of Brennan and got his invitations made by my amazing friend, Kelly. I will post a picture of it when they have all been handed out...don't want to go spoiling nothing ;)

Chad and I tried our hand at fondant decorations for Brennan's party and we did well for a trial run, here was the caterpillar cake topper I whipped up!
I have been working on Brennan's quilt for a few weeks now and finally got the first layer done. I'm really excited for how this will turn out!

Kaeden starts school next Monday. It's so hard to believe he will in the 1st grade. Can we stop time yet?

Has it really been since May?

Wow I'm a bigger slacker than I originally thought!

Okay so since I haven't blogged in 2 1/2 months, I guess I shall play a little bit of catch up.

I don't even know where to start.

The month of June went by quick. Kaeden finished up his first year of school. It was exciting and kind of crazy all in the same. Now we are just a few weeks away from 1st grade!

Brennan turned 9 months the middle of June, right before we left to go on vacation.

Kaeden, Brennan and I went to Tennessee for about a week and a half while Chad was gone on business. Our trip was awesome and Brennan got to meet everyone and see ViVi again!

After spending 10 days in Chattanooga, I took the boys to Florida to meet daddy and continue our vacation with Grandma and Grandpa!

 Brennan at his first pancake:
He did not like the 4th of July :(

He met his great grandma in Savannah

We went back to Tennessee and the boys got to hang out with their cousin.

We had a surprise party for Kaeden since it was just a few days until his birthday!

We came back right before Kaeden's birthday and he had a fun time on his birthday at Chuck E Cheese. The weekend after, he had a sleep over with his friends and a pokemon training camp theme.

Brennan turned 10 months July 18. He was 21lbs 12oz and 29 inches.

Aside from our trip, we haven't done too much this summer. It's been a nice pace and I'm so thankful for that. Brennan started sleeping through the night with a little tough love about 10 days ago and that has been a huge blessing.

August started out with a BANG! On the first, my mom turned 50! She is so wonderful and amazing, it was hard to be away from her on her big, special day. She is so beautiful, it's hard to believe she's a half century old (I know she's going to love reading that part-HAHA)

August 2nd, my step dad got a call for a liver transplant. His surgery was complete the evening of the 2nd and so far, while things haven't been perfect with God's guidance everything is going very well. He is currently being moved out of the critical care unit and into a normal transplant recovery room.

Yesterday was my birthday. I had a great day. Chad and I had sushi without the kids, and some friends of ours had us over for dinner. Chad and the boys got me a beautiful Brighton charm bracelet. I'm in love. Chad also had the cake decorators on base do a wonder woman cake for me and it was AWESOME. Pop got mom's phone while she was away and called me to wish me happy birthday- can you believe it- less than 48 hours after a 7 hour surgery!!! and probably the biggest event was Brennan officially let go of the couch and took his first steps! It really was one of the best days I could have ever asked for.

That brings me to today. I vow not to go 2 1/2 months again (well, not until next summer anyway). Hope the update with all the pictures was worth the wait :D
