Never to be outdone....

Kaeden couldn't handle letting his little brother reach a big milestone today while he just sat idly by.

Kaeden has officially lost his first tooth. I'm really excited for both of them, but a little sad. My kids are growing up SO fast!

Brennan Rolls for the first time today!

Where is my Pat when I need him?

I have some super fond memories of my grandfather, Pat, trying to pull my loose teeth in various ways. Everything from plyers (no he really did not do this) to the ole string and door slaming trick. Now that Kaeden's loose tooth is so loose that it's hurting him I feel like I'm going to have to resort to some of these methods. At least if I have to make a big production out of it like Pat always did, maybe Kaeden can look back on it and laugh just like I'm doing now. Thanks for taking such good care of my chompers, Pat, wish you were here to help with Kaeden's!

Report Card Time!

Wednesday was apparently report card day (this was news to me)! Kaeden's report card was beyond fantastic. He got "outstanding" in every area, and he is meeting/showing mastery of standards. His teacher wrote, "Kaeden is a very dependable boy and one of our better citizens. He is very cooperative and takes an active part in all of our classroom activities. He is showing great growth in all of the academic areas."

Chad and I could not be more proud. Today...Kindergarten, Tomorrow...the world :D

Yesterday was my weigh in day and despite the copious amounts of beer and cake I consumed over the weekend, I managed to lose 2 pounds. YAY for walking Kaeden home from school instead of driving!

Yesterday was also awana day and Kaeden earned 2 more awards. He got one jewel for memorizing 3 more verses and another one for attendance.

Brennan slept the longest he ever has last night from 9:15-5:30; it was AMAZING. I have zero expectations of what tonight might be like so every night that is a good night I will be thankful.

Tonight, the Nets had a basketball game and they actually won. Kaeden is improving, but improving from pretty terrible. It's not that he's necessarily bad, it's that he gets so excited to play with his friends he pays ZERO attention to the game. We'll work on it.

This weekend seems like it's going to be a pretty busy one, as always.

Hopefully I can snap a few pics of the boys and of all the crazy things we will be doing!

Random Picture Day

Yesterday Brennan was in a really good mood so I decided to take a few pictures of him.

Last night he slept so good for me, probably the best he ever has. He only woke up once between 8:15-7:30. I was SO proud!

I know it's really early but since I'm a super planner (aka control freak) I've already decided that I want Brennan to have a Hungry Caterpillar birthday party. I have so many cute ideas, I hope I can go through with at least half of them and more importantly I hope people show up!

We've got a busy few days ahead of us. Basketball practice, Awana, Basketball games, and build and grow. Sadly, daddy has to leave us for a few days but he gets to see his parents for a small bit while on this trip so that is a really, really good thing.

Happy 30th Birthday, my love!

So where to start....

Thursday is my "weigh in" day and.... I LOST 6 POUNDS!!! YAY ME! I will be the first to admit, I have a lot to lose (30 lbs), so getting a big jumpstart like this was a big boost in confidence. I was so small after doing Insanity last year before getting pregnant and I know I can do it again.

Thursday night was awana night and Kaeden had memorized 3 verses, which earned him his wings and first red jewel, yay! I forgot my camera (you are about to see a very common occurrence here). I'm really proud of my little guy. I know we need to start going to church together as a family. I think it would benefit us all.

Friday night we had his opening ceremony for basketball...and I forgot my camera. Seriously. I don't know what has come over me lately. They announced the teams, had their pictures made and then had hot dogs. Kaeden ate 2. I don't know what has come over him lately but he actually requests hot dogs. I'm so proud of him, perhaps a cowboy hat or some boots should be next on his list.

Saturday morning was Kaeden's first baksetball game. I'm not going to lie to you...he's not good. He just kinda mocks what the other kids do and seems generally confused. I will however say he has no issues taking the ball from a girl, because he totally did it during the game and I cheered a little inside.

Saturday night, I did the unthinkable. I left Kaeden and Brennan with a sitter. Not an adult friend of mine, a real, teeenage, I'm going to pay you to keep my children alive babysitter. I liked her. K seems to as well judging by the "I love boof ov you" note he wrote for her and her friend that got texted during our outing. So yay!

The reason we needed a sitter was becasue we had Chad's 30th birthday party dinner. It was at Bex, which is a really adorable restaurant and hang out that we have come to love. Great food, awesome atmosphere, great prices, and cheap(er) than other restaurants drinks. About 9 people showed up so it was perfect. After dinner, drinks, and some especially delicious cupcakes (Thanks Nadia Cakes) we went down stairs for some underground pool and you guessed it more drinks.

I would also like to say here, that I parallel parked for the first time and did an awesome job. Even the guy behind me said I did good. Proud Sommer moment there!

The night was great, and we really had a good time. So thanks to those who came out!

Today, was Chad's 30th birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHAD! We didn't do much, but did manage to get in some bowling and we cut (and ate) his birthday cake. I'm really damn proud of this birthday cake. Not because I made it or anything but because the people who did make it kick ass. They have been on TLC's Fabulous Cakes twice, and tonight they were on Food Network's Cupcake Wars and won. Yeah, they are THAT good.

This weekend we got our family pictures back from Hawaii. I am really ashamed of how much weight I packed on during pregnancy. I allowed myself to take the "eating for two" mentality to my head, and I'm still paying for it. I'm sad I look so big in these pictures because I am so used to being small, but I am happy for the memories they represent and I think they turned out well overall. Please let me know if you would like some of these and in what sizes.

I had a friend point out in this one, that both Kaeden and Brennan are making the same expression with their mouth and they really are. How funny!

I'm still not getting any sleep in case anyone was wondering. I'm going to try several different things this week (none of which include nursing him to sleep-I think that's our issue) and we will see how it goes. Wish us all luck!

Brennan turned 4 months on Wednesday, and he still isn't a great sleeper. He was the first few week (of course), but ever since then he has gotten into a routine but it's one I really dislike.

For starters, he sleeps in the pack and play and the end of our bed. We do swaddle him sometimes in swaddle blankets sometimes in the woombie. He will sleep for about 4-5 hours at the start of the night say around 9-1:30. Then after 1:30 he's up at 3:30 or 4, then 5:30, then 7:30 or 8 for the day. When he wakes up at 1:30 I can tell he's hungry, and that's fine. I do not expect my exclusively breastfed baby to sleep through the night right now. However when he wakes at 3:30 and 5:30 he's not hungry but wants to comfort nurse. He usually wakes up, nurses and is back asleep in about 5 minutes. I've found if I just sleep where he has access to milk in the way a hamster has access to it's water dropper I don't even really wake up when he starts to nurse, however, I don't want to co sleep anymore.

I really just want to hear other people's experiences, especially those with babies who are close to Brennan's age. It has been over 5 years since I've had a baby this age and I've totally forgotten what it was like. I remember Kaeden finally started STTN at about 8 months when we moved to Alaska (but we had to use the cry it out method which I want to try to avoid this time around).

I also want to say I am very thankful for Brennan. There have been TOO MANY people in mine and Chad's life who have been unable to have children or who have lost their babies either in utero or shortly after. I know they would love to be getting up with their babies in the middle of the night, and so I don't want to sound like I'm ungrateful. I just am looking for possibly different ways to help both Brennan and myself get more consecutive sleep.

Happy 4 Months Brennan!

Today Brennan is 4 months! We celebrated by taking some pictures (and going to the doctor later-poor guy)

UPDATE: We went to the Dr. and Brennan is doing great. He is on track for all of his milestones, so that is very good! He weighs 16lbs 12 oz so he is in the 88% for his weight, and he is 26 inches which makes him in the 90% for his height. We know we have a big boy on our hands. :D He got his immunizations and only cried for about 30 seconds. I love how tough he is.

Random Kaedenisms

I need to start writing these down, because one day he is going to look back and laugh so hard.

We are getting a sitter for Chad's birthday on Saturday night, and I was pumping some milk to have for Brennan. Kaeden says, "Why are you doing that, our babysitter is a girl so she can just feed Brennan with her boobies!" I have a feeling that is NOT what she signed up for!

Brennan was naked lying in the floor waiting on me to warm his bath water, Kaeden walks over sits down next to him and says "Wow, Brennan has a small penis." Chad and I about died. Poor Brennan.

Long weekends are the best

We had a nice long weekend it started out with a trip to the Lowe's build and grow clinic where Kaeden and Chad build a castle. This was the first time we had ever been to the event and I really think Kaeden had a great time. Afterwards, we tried a new (to me) restuarant called Souplantation...I am in love! It was really inexpensive and had some amazing healthy choices that fit our lifestyle perfect.

I got all the things I needed to make Chad's cake stand while we were out, it turned out amazing too!

Sunday we went back into town to get me a new cell phone because mine has been broken since around Christmas. Go figure after we drive the 40 minutes into town, Chad walks in the verizon store and it starts working... so I have a phone now!

Today was clean the house day, and that we did. I finally feel settled in from the trip and everything.

Both boys are doing really well. Kaeden is really getting into building his legos, and he is starting to love basketball which really surprised me. Brennan is almost four months- I can't believe it!

Hawaii Day 1

Even though we had to wake up before the sun even began to think about rising, our trip was really smooth and easy down to LA. The plane ride went great and both boys traveled so well.

We went to pick up our rental car then off to the hotel :D

I am in love with Waikiki beach and these pictures should explain it all

Brennan's First plane ride

Hawaii Day 2

We spent the first full day there on the beach and at the pool, it was AMAZING!!
