Sleep? What's that?

I didn't post on Sunday, because that evening I went to the movies with a friend. We went to see Breaking Dawn which I was super disappointed with. I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it, but it just wasn't what I expected. It was the first time Chad was left alone with both boys for an extended period of time and they were both very good for him. So proud :D Before the movie I also went to Nadia Cakes, a local bakery who has been featured on TLC twice to have a consultation done for Chad's birthday cake. It is so important to me since this is such a big one (30!!) that he have the best of everything! The design that was made is spectacular and while I'm spending the rest of this week to work on some other consults, I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with her. Check out www.nadiacakes.com to see some of her work, it's truly amazing!

Monday was back to school and can I just say THANK GOD! I love Kaeden but I really enjoy to couple hours of "one child time" that it gives me. Brennan has not been sleeping well the two nights so I really feel like the walking dead. I have no pictures, which is crazy but I really have been just way too exhausted the past couple days. I am hoping to get some Christmas ones done very soon with Chad's help.

Gran and Pat, I just want you to know I have been thinking of you guys lately. I found an ornament the other day that made me think of you. I'm going to send it out as soon as I get to the post office. Just know that even though I haven't called I love you both and have been thinkin of you!

This week we have been working on some crafts that I am SO excited about! However, I can't take any pictures because some of them are Christmas gifts.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas :)

There was no fun food friday this week, I wasn't lifting one finger to cook anything after I spent all the time in the kitchen on Thursday. Kaeden didn't say a thing about it, thank God!

I didn't go anywhere on black friday. I was determined to do all my shopping from home and avoid the crazies that seem to come out on this insane day. My main goal was to get Kaeden a 1,600 pc lego set from Walmart for $30. After 53 minutes of trying to check out, I did...3 times apparently. I had to cancel the other two orders but I got the first one in. Imagine my shock when I opened the front door to them today! I had ordered some from Barnes and Noble last week (in case I didn't get these) and I still haven't got them. I ordered a few other small things (baby legs) for Brennan for Christmas and then some gifts for our nephew. Overall it was good, besides missing the laptop I wanted for my mom. This year I am really on top of things for better or worse. It seems as our Christmas fund keeps growing our Hawaii fund keeps shrinking. BAD SOMMER!

We did put the tree up and it looks so good :)

Each year we buy a "special" ornament for something that happened that year...here are all of them (except this years)

Today we got out of the house and went to Michaels. Chad and Kaeden wanted to build a birdhouse out of popcicle sticks. Well, instead of milk carton sized bird house, this is what they built. Complete with a dog and a chair. It's awesome!

Both boys are doing well. Brennan, I think, is going through a growth spurt as he is nursing constantly today. Kaeden is hilarious and sweet and so awesome all wrapped up into one. He is getting very excited for Christmas!

Chad is going on a bike ride in the morning, hopefully that goes well as it's starting to get colder here. When he gets back I am going to see Breaking Dawn with a couple of friends...YAY sparkly vampires!

Happy Thanksgiving!

This has to be my favorite holiday! I love cooking ridiculous amounts of food, so this is the day for me!

Yesterday, we went to Lowe's to get the wood to make Kaeden's lego table for Christmas. Chad has been working on it since yesterday afternoon and it is looking fantastic! I hope he is as excited as we are to give it to him! Here is a picture of how it is looking, right now we are just waiting on the lego plates to come in and they will go on both sides of the storage box

Earlier this morning, Kaeden thought it would be a good idea to JUMP over Brennan. Yep, I said JUMP. He ended up tripping over Brennan and kicking him in the head. I would have busted his you know what if he hadn't started immediately bawling. :( Kaeden was so upset. He kept crying and saying, "I'm sorry, brother. I'm so sorry." Bless his heart; I don't think he will be trying anything like that again and Brennan is probably very greatful for that!

Look what I made!

This is our Thanksgiving tree, every night from November 1st to Thanksgiving night we make a leaf and write something we are thankful for on it.

Brennan's 2 month appointment

We had Brennan's two month appointment today, he is doing really well. The only thing of concern is an umbilical hernia, the doctor said he should go away on it's own. He weighs 13lb 5oz, which is slightly smaller than Kaeden at his age. He is 23.7 inches which I feel is pretty long for a 2 month old, that would probably explain why he is growing out of most of his 3 month clothes!

When it came time for shots he cried for about 45 seconds to a minute, nursed, then passed out asleep.

So far he's done okay, but got a little cranky this evening.

Today we had a play date at a friends house, it was so nice to get together with other moms while our kids played. I'm starting to feel better about living here now that I'm making more friends. The kids did a paint your ornament craft, and of course Kaeden slaps some paint on there and is done. It will be exciting when he actually cares and sits down to make something.

I am so thankful for my little family, and ready to eat some turkey!!

Weekend recap!

This weekend was a different change of pace for us.

Chad went on a camping/ATV trip with a friend for a night, and he had a great time!

While he was gone the boys and I went to town to buy some Christmas ornaments to do craft projects with next week. Kaeden also wanted to spend a little bit of his allowance to buy a game for his Leapster Explorer. I've been getting better and better at using cloth while we are going out, so now I only use disposables at night. I'm hoping to change to overnights soon, but we will see.

I got a text from a friend Saturday night and it said that the BX was having a great electronics sale. I packed up the kids and went to find a DVD camcorder at over 80% off! We aren't sure if we are going to keep it yet as it wasn't a planed purchase, but I just couldn't pass it up.

I loved seeing the VOLS finally win, it was such a good game! After it was over Kaeden and I put up our Tennessee tree, it needs a couple more ornaments and I'm going to make some, put them up, and then take a picture of the tree.

Chad got home this morning and we went back in to town just to run a few errands and buy a Christmas gift for Kaeden. I'm starting to get SO excited about Christmas :D

I don't have much else to report, we didn't really do all that much but I bet this next week will have LOTS of things going on!

Happy 2 months Brenana!

Today Brennan is 2 months old, yay!

He was all smiles for our photoshoot. I love that little tiny angel!

Fun Food Friday was a HOT mess. I was going to make a sandwich look like a turkey body and these cute little apple slices as feathers. Well, Kaeden wanted chicken nuggets. I didn't have chicken nuggets but I had a chicken patty, so I was like I can totally make this work. I CLEARLY did NOT make it work....

Soccer Star

I love my little soccer star!

Kaeden had his last "game" tonight. They just ran some drills and scrimmaged each other, but they ran off some energy and had a blast and so that is the most important part! After the game, we went to pizza hut for their soccer party. We had pizza, fruit, and cake to eat; and the kids had so much fun playing together. Kaeden was also awarded his first medal which is now hanging proudly in his room!

Today I got the kids matching PJs in, and I'm so in love.

Chad got back today from a short trip to Vegas. He brought us back some Krispy Kreme since the closest one is over 90 miles away. Have I mentioned lately just how much I adore him?!

My mind has been all over the place lately, I feel like I have so much going on but yet I feel like I don't get anything done all the same. I have really been trying to open up and make friends again and let people into my life more. It's really hard. I always struggle with this part of being in the military, it's like I don't want to make friends because I know I will love this person and then I won't see them again. I need to realize that friendships aren't based on living in the same town, and it's important for me to develop them while I can and enjoy them for what they are.

I have started doing swagbucks again, and honestly I am kind of upset with myself that I didn't start again sooner. I stopped around April because I wasn't earning points from searching. Well now that I've been back, I've been doing surveys and tasks as well as getting points for searching and I have been able to get $20 in amazon gift cards in less than a week! This is so awesome to me, because as a homemaker I feel a little guilty that I spend so much money but do nothing to contribute. Even though this isn't buying groceries it's how I know I can monetarily contribute to the family. So if you aren't doing it, get on it! Here is a link to sign up...can't beat free money! Just click on the banner and go from there.
Search & Win

I did a teacher appreciation "function", maybe that's what you would call it, today. It turned out really well so I wanted to share it in case any of you out in cyber-space land need an idea. I bought snack bags, the square marshmallows, individual hershey bars and graham crackers. I put enough for one smore in each bag and wrote a note telling the teachers and staff of Kaeden's school that we needed "S'more" people like them. The teachers that were in the lounge when I went in there seemed to think it was really cute. It was fairly inexpensive too and a great way to boost the teacher's day.

We have several things coming up this in the next couple weeks that we are getting geared up for. Tomorrow is Awana and Kaeden is going to attempt to get through 2 verses; I hope he does well...he has been trying so hard. Brennan turns 2 months on Friday :sniff: :sniff: and has his 2 month appointment (that means shots) on Monday. Kaeden is out of school all next week so I'm praying that we find some things to keep busy during the day. The sonic boom study I've been participating in for NASA will be over, and I hope the booms go with it. I'm so tired of having to force Denver outside. I also can't wait to get paid from it, it will be so nice to have actually earned the money for Chad's Christmas gift! Then of course there is Turkey day. Kaeden can't wait for that! Hopefully I'll keep up with the blog (at least Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) as the holidays near and things get busier.

'Tis the season

It's that time of year and I can feel the holiday magic in the air, I love it. However, with all of that comes being very, very busy. Busy can be a good thing when you want time to go by quickly, but the thing is I don't. Brennan is just a shade under 2 months, I am still 20 pounds from what I want to be when we go to Hawaii, and I could just use some extra time to prepare for the holidays. I don't think time will slow down just for me though, which is a shame.

Lots of fun happenings went on last week:

Monday was my check up with the doctor and everything is all well. It's funny to listen to peoples reaction to Brennan, asking me how many months he is then commenting on how huge he is! We weighed him this weekend and he was 13.8 pounds. He has his 2 month check up next Monday, I'm guessing he will be right around 14.

Wednesday Kaeden had his first playdate where I picked him and his friend up from school. I made chocolate chip cookies like an awesome mom and let them play until it was time for soccer. It was their last soccer practice and they did a game where it was the parents against the kids. It was a lot of fun to watch! Thursday was supposed to be their last game but it got cancelled.

Thursday Chad came home with a new printer and food dehydrator that he won in a silent auction. The printer he got is like a business style printer and it has the potential to be amazing, with it's Wifi and photo printing. He got it for about 90% off so I am super proud of his deal skills! Thursday is also awana night, and Kaeden finished up his first little booklet by memorizing John 3:16. He earned his new book and his vest he was very excited and Chad and I are so proud of him!

Friday we spent Veterans Day with our hero, Daddy! We went to BJs brewhouse for a late lunch. We still had Fun Food Friday though. It was peanut butter sandwich tree with fall colored apple leaves!

Saturday was a laze around the house kinda day, and yesterday we went to the IMAX theatre to see Puss and Boots. I don't think I'll ever be able to watch a normal movie again, the IMAX was amazing! Kaeden really enjoyed the experience and Brennan slept about 90% of the time, good boy!

Ive done a lot of Christmas shopping and planning this weekend. I know everything we are going to get Kaeden, and most everything we are going to get Brennan. I have pretty much finished up shopping for Brennan's stocking and I've done all the shopping for the boys from ViVi. I also got the boys stockings embroidered and they look amazing; I can't wait to get them hung up!

I've only taken a few pictures recently but here they are:

Brennan took a bath with me for the first time the other night, he was so relaxed!

7 weeks

Brennan is 7 weeks old today, I wasn't planning on doing a photoshoot....but....he was being adorable as alway!

We had a great weekend, Kaeden had his last Saturday soccer game and he played really well. It has gotten pretty cold here though. Today we just hung around the house and cleaned. I also found a really cool tutorial on making eyes "pop". I'm obsessed check out how I did it in this before/after pic
