Happy Birthday ViVi!!

Today is my mom's birthday (since it's technically midnight on the East Coast). I wish we could be there with her today but we can't :( I also couldn't get her the white BMW she asked for...there is always next year I guess. My mom is my bestest friend and she's so awesome; she deserves to have a wonderful birthday. Love you mom, have a great day!

We've certainly come a long way from this:

Love that ninja

Today while cleaning the bathrooms Kaeden was asking me why I was doing that. I'm pretty sure I made some smart ass comment about how terrible his aim was; I also asked him if I didn't do it who would? He told me a ninja comes in and does it. Supposedly even though he watches me do dishes, vacuum, laundry, dusting, cooking and various other chores there is a ninja that sneaks into my house and does all this. So tonight the ninja was working overtime, making stuffed shells and homemade cinnamon rolls.

Progress is Progress

Today has been a day of progress which is always exciting to report.

Kaeden, as I mentioned probably 100 times in previous posts, has been waking up at hours I don't like to associate myself with. So one morning while I was trying to make him breakfast in order to crawl back in bed, he started opening all the blinds. It was then as I was melting on the floor that I realized when the sun starts coming up it directly hits his windows. This is unacceptable! We still had some blackout curtains from when we lived in Alaska and I had Chad hang them up. Chad and I probably woke up around 7:30 this morning, and K was still passed out. It was wonderful. Around 9am he starts yelling "guys, guys" and he didn't want to come out of his room. Chad went to go check on him and he is all confused asking "Is it morning time or not?" HAHAHAHAHA Opperation keep Kaeden in bed until after 7 -a success. Watch tomorrow, I'll pay dearly for this post.

Chad and our neighbor Scott, were successful in getting Chad's quad fixed. Something about a bent steering column and blah blah blah. Either way, I hope it's fixed because it brings a source of joy to Chad and that's important to me. Opperation fix Chad's quad without spending money-a success.

For dinner tonight Chad grilled tri tip, it's amazing I'm not going to lie. In fact next time he makes it I really should post his recipe and "how to" so you can make it to. That really wasn't the success although any meal that's as tasty as this was deserves a hats off. The big success is... KAEDEN ATE IT. That's right people, my little herbavoire had steak and potatoes tonight! He didn't complain but he ate it slow. I don't care I consider opperation not raise a vegetarian-a SLOW success!

I'm thinking he knows he needs loads of protien if he wants to be able to lift more weights than this. Apparently going into a garage produces an overflow of male hormones and causes you to either want to throw 6 darts at once or lift random things as much as you can. Kaeden did both today. He was pretty proud that he got up to 20 pounds. Opperation train Kaeden to play football for UT-working on it!

It also rained today, which was incredible. It lasted like 6 1/2 minutes! I haven't seen rain since I was in Tennessee (in May) and I'm not even 100% sure it rained then. If it didn't rain in Tennessee I honestly can not tell you the last time I saw percipitation other than when it snowed in Janurary. Seriously. It's all blue skys and hot as hell here. It is really awesome cause I get a lot of use out of my sunglasses, but some days I just long for a thunderstorm. I got one today, as short as it was! As usual Denver was a complete disaster...bless his little puppy heart :(

Goals for August (and beyond)

I have one main goal for August, and I'm laying it all out here in public so I can be held accountable. I don't want to spend a lot of our "extra" money this month. It's not that I go out and spend $200 in one store but I'll spend $10 at the BX, $35 on dinner out, or $50 on fabric and that really adds up. We have been wanting to go to Hawaii for a while, well it's mainly been my insisting, but Chad wouldn't mind going either and if we want to go next year we need to start saving up for it now.

So here it is, my oath. I will not spend money unless it is something that is actually needed*.

*I reserve the right to splurge on the following baby items if they are listed on a my favorite deal of the day websites: Woombie, gcloth, football baby legs, picky sticky, and twilight turtle. No other offers will be accepted, this is not a legally binding contract.

31 weeks

I am 31 weeks today, yay!

I am so thankful that the zantac is working. I haven't chewed a tums in about a week, and it feel amazing to be heartburn free.

I made some pom pom balls earlier this week that I am totally in love with. I am, okay Chad is, going to be hanging them from the ceiling with fishing wire so it makes a cool focal point in the room and something fun for Brennan to stare at since we aren't getting him a mobile. I think I am going to add 2 more green ones but I'm not sure yet. They were seriously EASY and WAY CHEAP!

Dear Kaeden...

I'm sorry that your crazy, pregnancy brained, very sleepy mommy put vagisil on you instead of hydrocortizone. Hopefully this teaches you to let me sleep until at least 7am. I can't wait to tell you about this when you are 14, I have a feeling I will think it's a lot funnier than you will!!!

Impromptu summer splashing

It's so hot, but I don't have to tell you that because it's hot EVERYWHERE.

I fell yesterday while trying to hang some tissue paper pom pom balls I made for Brennan's room. (more on these later becuase they are WAY adorable). Anyway, it wasn't that bad of a fall but I may or may not have tripped out of his crib and onto my hiney. I will never tell. He's been moving around fine, and I haven't had more than the number of contractions I'm allowed before being yelled at to go to L&D. So hopefully with some rest and prayers everything will be fine.

Even though I'm trying to take it easy, I really want to burn some energy out of KP so that maybe he will sleep past 6:30. It's not that I don't get at least 7 hours of sleep, it's just I don't think anyone should be awake before 8....okay 7 at the earliest.

So today we decided to make a "water" slide, and swimming pool. The "swimming pool" is actually a crab that is supposed to be a sandbox. He got this for his second birthday, don't say I haven't got my money out of it!

Insant nursery just add baby

My mom and I are a lot alike in some ways. We love to shop for hours, we love chocolate and wine, and we have an unhealthy obsession for coach bags. In other ways we are complete opposites. I love (and am good at) cooking...she is...getting...better. I like to sew; I'm pretty sure she had never picked up thread or a needle. She is very good at doing hair and makeup; I am not. One of the things she is best at is something I am HORRIBLE at...decorating. Generally speaking, my mom can take a shoestring budget and a small home and make it look amazing. I can't. Seriously, I lack that gene or something. So usually Chad ends up having to tell me that things just don't look right or my ideas are awful. Thank God for him.

So here is the "problem", I have Brennan's nursery how I want it set up but the walls are pretty much bare and I have no real ideas on what to do. So I decided I'd snap some pictures and see if you guys could come up with any ideas for me.

I do have a few things floating around in my head, like a pillow for my glider, a valence for the window, and maybe a tractor picture above his crib? I also want to find a distressed looking wood frame with no glass and put it around the overalls above his light switch.

The diapers part of the closet:

Clothes newborn and 3-6 months:

Onesies: 0-3 months, 3-6 months, and 6-9 months:

So if you have any ideas, please share. I don't want or need the walls to be overloaded, but a few things would be nice!

There are a lot of things you shouldn't do while 8 months pregnant

Running a marathon is one.

Cutting 10 inches off of your hair that you have been growing out for 3 years is another one.

Guess which one I did today?!

There is something about being pregnant or having a baby that makes you want to cut your hair. I don't know what it is but it happens EVERY TIME. I decided on Wednesday I really wanted something new...oh what the heck you don't care about this part let's just get to the pictures.

So here is the before: forgive the terrible lighting. I should have looked at it as an omen, but I didn't...

At least it makes a cute pony tail:

I know as far as haircuts go it's not a bad one. It just doesn't feel like "me", and I'm sure it will take me a while to get used to it. I do like that it looks cute pulled half back and it looks cute with a funky headband.

I will be donating it to either beautiful lengths or locks of love, so honestly at least that gives me a warm fuzzy that it might be able to used to help someone who doesn't have the option to get a haircut they dont' like.
